She's in Band

Tara is in 5th grade.  This year, she is able to take band.  She is playing the Alto Sax.  She is borrowing her instrument from her cousin Amy.  This Saxophone used to be her uncle's, grandfathers.  Her teacher told her that it is in excellent condition.

When she got home from school, she could hardly wait to assemble it and show Madeline and I how she plays.

Of course, the Henny's were curious about the. . .ummm. . .very loud "noises" coming from Tara.

So without further adieu, here is Tara with her first Alto Sax solo. . .

Even Caspian liked the way she played.
Don't ya just love Madeline's style?  Gotta love the socks!
It'll be so fun watching Tara learn to play this awesome instrument!!

  1. Just STOP with the 5th grade thing. She is not in fifth grade and I am sticking to that!

  2. Don't worry Becca. I told both the girlies that they are NOT celebrating any more birthdays, nor are they advancing to any higher grade levels. They will be in 5th and 2nd grades indefinitely!

  3. Your hen's faces are SOOOO red. Are you getting eggs from them yet? If not, I think you might be getting close. I know BO's can be a bit slower to mature but yours are looking like they are getting there.

  4. Ohhh I hope you're right! I'm still waiting! Every day when I go out to clean their coop, I kind of hold my breath and look in the nests. Always empty though (except for the fake egg I have in each one). I hope you're right! I can't wait to get that first egg!!

  5. My son started playing the alto sax when he was in fifth grade too! He got so he could play quite a few songs that I recognized.

  6. Joan, She's really excited about learning and I'm sure she'll do very well. I can't wait to hear a song. Last night she put a few notes together that actually sounded pretty, and she was so shocked and delighted at the same time. It was great.
